There are several stages at the State Fair of Texas, and all the music is free once you’re inside the fairgrounds. The Chevrolet Main Stage will host the big national touring acts, while the White Claw, Bud Light, ZiegenBock stages lean local. The latter two are produced by East Dallas-based State Fair Records. All told, there will be more than 100 local and national acts headed to Fair Park. Here are a few must-see acts from each stage and where to find the music. Check out this link for the full schedule.
Chevrolet Main Stage
New this year: Air conditioning. The main stage is moving to Fair Park Coliseum, which is cattycorner from the Top O’ Texas Tower on Coliseum Drive.
- Clint Black kicks off the State Fair on opening day (September 25), with the entire opening weekend lineup including Steve Ray Ladson, Pynk Beard, and The BoykinZ on September 26 and Geru Y Su Legión 7 and La Alianza Norteña on September 27.
- The first week will boast Petty Theft (September 28), our No. 16 in the Most Influential Dallas Recording Artists listers Bowling for Soup (September 29), Lee Brice (September 30), Mini Kiss (October 1), Josh Weathers (October 2), The Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular (October 3),and Kansas (October 4).
- For week two, the Main Stage will feature Joy Oladokun (October 5), Tyler Nance (October 6), Queensrÿche (October 7), Red Hot Chili Pipers (October 8), Two Friends (October 9), the Paul Wall Fall Ball (October 10), and a triple bill of Deep Blue Something, Tripping Daisy, and Toadies (No. 6 on our list of influential recording artists) on October 11.
- Week two will include Iann Dior, Adrien Nunez, and Vwillz (October 12), Maggie Antone (October 13), RaeLynn (October 14), The Concert: A Tribute to ABBA (October 15), Muscadine Bloodline (October 16), Gym Class Heroes and 3OH!3 on October 17, and The Last Bandoleros on October 18.
The Bud Light Stage
You’ll find this stage in Cotton Bowl Plaza, opposite the food vendors and next to the Beer Barn. There’s a Fletcher’s Corny Dog stand here, and the Beer Barn has the cheapest beer in the fairgrounds. Stay awhile. This is where you’ll find a healthy rotation of local acts.
