Happy Autumnal Equinox! Fall officially begins this evening at 7:05 PM. Thankfully, temperatures have gotten the memo and feel much more like autumn than they did at the start of the month.
Highs this afternoon will sit in the 70s and 80s across the state, with most areas staying below the seasonal norm. The patchy fog and cloud cover we have seen this morning will continue to break apart and give way to more sunshine this afternoon.
Our next disturbance arrives midweek, with western Kansas seeing rain chances on Wednesday evening. We are not expecting to see any severe weather so far this week, but a few rumbles of thunder are not out of the question.
Scattered showers then advance east on Thursday with widespread rain expected across the region. Temperatures will gradually be warming during this time, with highs inching back into the 80s.
Rain chances will remain through Friday and could impact Friday Football Fever in central and eastern Kansas. Rain continues to push east through the weekend with a few showers lingering on Saturday.
Temperatures climb this weekend with highs back into the upper 80s through the start of next week.
