FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – City Council approved three budget items for the Fort Wayne Police Department at Tuesday’s meeting: approval of a southeast Fort Wayne outpost, approval of the downtown outpost, and a review of the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).
The proposed southeast outpost is located at 208 East Petit Ave., Suite 51. Currently, there is no meeting place for southeast officers to regroup or take breaks, causing them to go elsewhere and lengthening response times.
“This location will not only be a positive for the officers who use it, but for the businesses and community surrounding it,” said Southeast Quadrant Deputy Chief Kerry Haywood. “The department and Southgate will both be better once the new outpost is active.”…
