ROCHESTER, N.Y.— The Rochester Red Wings are gearing up for game two of their playoff series against the Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday after winning their first playoff game in 13 years on Tuesday night.
The Red Wings are playing the entire best-of-three International League championship series in Memphis, but that didn’t stop fans from gathering to cheer on their team. The playoff game happened to be on the same day as the team’s third annual Home Run Derby, a celebration featuring local high school and college athletes. After the event wrapped up at ESL Ballpark, fans stayed to watch the playoff game on the video boards.
The Red Wings won the game 4-3, powered by a solo home run from Seaver King. King recorded three of Rochester’s 10 hits in the win. Fans said they love how the team brings the Rochester community together every season, and it’s special to see the team’s national success…
