A Buffalo man will spend 5 to 15 years in prison for killing a pedestrian and then attempting to cover up the crime by hiding his vehicle and destroying evidence.
Wendell M. Brooks, 45, was sentenced Wednesday before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi. As part of his sentence, Brooks’ New York state driver’s license was revoked.
The case stems from a crash that took place on July 17, 2025, when Brooks was driving a Tesla Cybertruck eastbound on William Street in Buffalo at approximately 10 p.m., authorities said.
