NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Newly filed court documents show an East Nashville couple is suing a homebuilder after workers allegedly cut down a beloved hackberry tree that shaded their children’s backyard play area.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Davidson County Chancery Court, claims Legacy South Builders, LLC, demolished the massive boundary-line shade tree without warning or permission on Jan. 2.
The complaint claims the company cut the tree to make way for a new residential development next door. According to the couple, a representative for the builder admitted during a meeting that the company “screwed up.”
