BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Starting in 2027, the Sacramento-based California Exposition and State Fair will be held from Sept. 17 to Oct. 3. If those dates sound familiar, they should — they overlap with the Kern County Fair.
The state fair, which concluded its 2026 run a few weeks ago from mid-July to early August — its normal mid-summer spot on the calendar — is moving.

This is expected to create problems because many vendors and attractions currently in Kern County work both fairs. Since they’re scheduled to take place at the same time, those partners will have to make a choice.
