A Prisma Health leader and University of South Carolina faculty member has been awarded the Order of the Palmetto.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Meera Narasimhan, professor and chair of the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, has been working in the field of mental health care, which led to her reception of the highest civilian honor in the state.
A psychiatrist, researcher and healthcare innovator, she played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding South Carolina’s telepsychiatry programs, helping bring mental health services to rural and underserved communities.
