NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA) – The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society celebrated the relocation of New York Central steam locomotive No. 3001 on Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., an open house was held at the organization’s restoration shop in New Haven, inviting visitors to view one of the last remaining steam locomotives from Indiana’s largest railroad.
The locomotive arrived in New Haven from the National New York Central Museum in Elkhart on September 15, traveling on Norfolk Southern’s mainline – a first in more than 40 years that comes 69 years after the engine was retired…
