NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee’s population boom is spreading beyond its major cities, with new data showing a significant increase in younger, working-age adults moving to rural parts of the state.
According to a new, mid-decade population check-in from the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, the state added more than 387,000 additional people since July 2020, the seventh-highest population increase in the country.
But researchers told News 2 the most significant shifts isn’t simply how many people Tennessee has gained, but their age and where they’re settling.
