LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Despite bad weather conditions from the Nor’easter that rolled through the East Coast this weekend, the Guns-to-Gardens safe disposal event went on as scheduled at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Lancaster County.
More than 20 unwanted firearms, including inherited guns, weapons no longer wanted in homes with children and “others carrying painful histories,” were safely dismantled and given a new purpose, being forged into garden tools and works of art by local blacksmiths.

Trained volunteers used power saws to dismantle guns, with the remaining pieces given to the blacksmiths.
