Two Idaho Starbucks are among 250 stores closed last week, as the company shuts down coffeehouses across the U.S. and Canada.
The locations are the Starbucks on Maple Grove Road in Garden City and Substation Road in Emmett, leaving the Gem County city with just one remaining Starbucks at an Albertsons on State Highway 16.
Both storefronts have since been covered and vacated. Signs posted on the stores begin, “To our amazing customers, this week we made the very difficult decision to close this Starbucks location.”
The closures were announced last Thursday in a letter to employees and are the second round of major closures for the coffeehouse since CEO Brian Niccol joined the company in 2024.
In the letter, Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams said the closing locations were identified “where we do not believe we can consistently deliver the experience we want for customers and partners or where we don’t see a path to acceptable financial performance.”…
