Troll exhibit at North Carolina Arboretum drew record crowds, brought $6.3M to Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A unique, interactive giant troll exhibit at the North Carolina Arboretum resulted in millions of dollars in direct spending in the Asheville area, local officials announced.

The Thomas Dambo Trolls: A Field Study outdoor art exhibit at the arboretum brought more than $6.3 million to local tourism spending, Explore Asheville and the North Carolina Arboretum announced in a press release on Sept. 30.

The exhibit, which took place from Nov. 15, 2025, through Feb. 17, 2026, featured twelve interactive troll sculptures designed to guide visitors on a “curious journey to learn about humankind,” the arboretum said…
