Man charged in death of toddler in Nampa receives a reduction in bail

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — Jakob Hirsbrunner, the man accused of involuntary manslaughter and injury to a child in relation to the death of a toddler in September, was in court Wednesday morning for his preliminary hearing. His defense asking the court to remove his $1 million bail and release him on his own recognizance.

Hirsbrunner’s defense argued he is not a threat to the community and would not flee if released. The state submitting to the wisdom of the court, not arguing for or against the reduction.

Judge James Schiller said he could not justify a full release, saying Hirsbrunner’s actions demonstrated an “utter disregard for safety,” referencing the probable cause affidavit in the case…
