Tacoma’s Alma to Reopen as Riverbend Social

What was once the Tacoma arts venue Alma will become the Puyallup Tribe of Indians-backed Riverbend Social.

The Tacoma venue, which also hosted a restaurant and café, has remained closed since October 2023. The space, opened in 2018, had been financially supported by a social impact fund, the Wend Collective, which had ties to James Walton, who comes from the family behind Walmart. Last year, it was announced that the property was gifted to the tribe.

Aiming for a spring 2027 relaunch, the 22,000-square-foot space will go through a refresh but will keep its existing spaces…
