Tamal Johnson, 23, was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and other firearm-related charges on Sept. 28, just hours after his trial concluded.

Johnson was accused of fatally shooting Taniya Gray, 23, on May 11, 2025.

Surveillance footage shown during the trial depicted the shooter waiting outside Gray’s home in a Kia Sorento parked near the 4100 block of Mountwood Road and Stokes Road for six hours before the shooting. License plate readings from the vehicle connected it to a previous traffic stop in which Johnson’s mother was identified as the driver. His mother testified that Johnson borrowed the vehicle the night before the shooting and returned it the following morning…
