SHREWSBURY – On January 19, 2026, a 2022 BMW SUV crashed into the Shrewsbury Police Department headquarters. Though nobody aside from the driver, who plowed into the building intentionally and was later charged, was injured, the incident caused significant damage. The car broke through two pylons, two sets of doors, and the door to dispatch.
Since then, the building has had temporary repairs. Concrete barriers were placed in the driveway of the municipal campus to shorten the potential runway for cars seeking to damage the headquarters. On September 22, Assistant Town Manager of Operations Keith Baldinger gave the Select Board an update regarding the reconstruction efforts.
