Changes coming to Anthem Blue Cross and other health insurance users

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Some changes this year into early 2027 will impact people under certain health plans in California, including in San Diego County.

Scripps Health and Anthem Blue Cross agreed to extend their contract in May of 2025 while negotiating a new agreement. However, that extension expired on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

In accordance with regulatory requirements, Anthem said it would notify people under its Priority HMO or CalPERS Select HMO plans prior to the expiration date if they have been assigned to a provider outside of the Scripps network.
