More Than a Dog Park: Finding Community at The Dog Park Fresno

For many Central Valley dog owners, finding a place where their dogs can safely play, socialize and burn off some energy can be a challenge, especially when temperatures soar in the summer or cool, damp weather arrives in the winter. That’s part of what inspired Kat Wojdan to create The Dog Park Fresno, an indoor destination designed for dogs and their people to enjoy together.

A Fresno native, Kat’s lifelong connection with animals began while she was in high school, when she volunteered at the Central California SPCA. She went on to work as a kennel attendant and later spent years working in veterinary medicine, gaining experience in areas ranging from animal husbandry to anesthesia and dental care. She eventually became a professional dog trainer and behaviorist, working with dogs who needed help navigating social situations.

The idea for an indoor dog park came while Kat was living on the Central Coast.

“The idea of an all-inclusive doggie paradise really appealed to me,” she said. “A place where dogs and their people could hang out, play, train and socialize with others.”…
