The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation has received a $230,000 grant from the Simply Healthcare Foundation to expand New Solutions: A Pediatric Mental Health Treatment and Suicide Prevention Program in Hollywood, Florida. The three-year grant funding began on July 1, 2026, and is designed to serve 267 individuals by providing community-based mental health support outside of hospital settings.
The New Solutions program targets children and adolescents brought to emergency departments during a mental health crisis who do not meet the medical criteria for hospital admission or involuntary holds under Florida’s Baker Act. Patients receive therapy directly in their homes or schools, allowing families to access care while staying integrated into their daily routines.
Referrals are managed directly by the hospital emergency department’s care coordination team, which establishes an immediate handoff to the program with a goal of connecting families to services within 24 hours.
