Main Street Mile marks 20th anniversary

For two decades, the Main Street Mile has endured as Newark’s signature foot race.

Over the years, runners have raced through heat, rain and wind, and in 2019, dodged potholes and orange traffic cones as they ran through the Main Street reconstruction project. Only in 2020 did the pandemic cause the cancellation of the race, though organizers still hosted a virtual option where participants ran the mile on their own.
