Miranda Lambert Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton on New Album Crisco
Country music star Miranda Lambert has unveiled her latest album, Crisco, released on Friday, October 2, and it carries a distinct influence from the legendary Dolly Parton. Lambert openly acknowledges the impact Parton’s spirit and energy had on the project.
In a recent conversation, Lambert reflected on Dolly’s enduring legacy, saying, “Dolly’s all over this, energy-wise. I feel like Dolly’s one of those people who will be here forever, even if it’s not on this Earth.” She added that Parton, who passed away in August, will continue to inspire and lead from beyond.
One standout track on Crisco is a duet with Chris Stapleton titled “A Song to Sing,” which evokes the classic collaborations Parton shared with Kenny Rogers. The accompanying music video sets the pair in a nostalgic roller-skating rink, featuring Lambert wearing Dolly’s earrings and Stapleton sporting a necklace that belonged to Rogers, enhancing the homage to country’s golden era. The video sparkles with retro flair, complete with shimmer and sequins, capturing a timeless vibe.
Though Lambert has been a fixture in mainstream country since the early 2000s, she only met Dolly Parton in 2018 while working together on a song for the Dumplin’ soundtrack. That encounter was a milestone moment for Lambert, who cherishes the advice Parton shared during their first studio session: “Honey, find your good light.
Always find your good light,” Dolly told her, turning her toward the flattering studio lighting. Lambert recalls using this guidance daily, both on camera and as a broader life philosophy.
Crisco marks Lambert’s tenth studio album and showcases a fresh sound inspired by ’70s and ’80s country, with hints of yacht rock woven in. The album also features a duet with Ella Langley on the track “Snakeskin Boots,” further expanding Lambert’s musical range.
With Crisco, Miranda Lambert honors her roots while forging new paths, all under the lasting influence of one of country music’s brightest stars, Dolly Parton.
