Frontier Club Raises New Zoning Questions in Lodi

A proposed $32.19 million private golf club is prompting Lodi Township to revisit zoning rules for golf-course lodging, wastewater systems and natural features.

Frontier Club LLC has proposed a private destination golf club on 333.74 acres in Lodi Township. Plans call for an 18-hole course, a 12-hole short course, a driving range, a clubhouse, 11 guest cottages and a maintenance facility. Membership would be capped at 300, with at least 80% expected to come from outside the area.

The Planning Commission had been expected to set a public hearing Aug. 25, but commissioners postponed doing so after Township Planner Hannah Firlit said more information was needed and questions remained about how the zoning ordinance treats lodging associated with a golf course…
