KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Stonewall Jackson “Stoney” Van Hook III, a longtime Lady Vols fan and founding member of the Lady Vols Boost Her Club, died Sunday, October 4, at his home in Oliver Springs after a battle with cancer. He was 77.
Van Hook spent decades cheering on Tennessee women’s athletes, and friends say his support for the program went well beyond attending games.
A decades-long passion for the Lady Vols
Terri Holder, who co-founded the Lady Vols Boost Her Club with Van Hook, said his love for the Lady Vols began in the 1990s, when he and his late wife, Betty, became devoted fans of former head coach Pat Summitt.
“Her and him, since ’96, had traveled all the games, home and away,” Holder said. “So he got to know Pat and all the fans like that also.”…
