Written by Rob Sanders, Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney
Serving as Kenton County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney for the last twenty years has been the greatest professional honor of my life. On September 30, 2026, Attorney General Russell Coleman designated me to lead Campbell County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Office as well, due to the previous Commonwealth’s Attorney’s resignation. I have accepted responsibility for Campbell County until a new Commonwealth’s Attorney is appointed by the Governor or elected by the people. Though this designation means twice as much work, with no additional pay, I gladly accepted because I love my job! The only way it could be better is if my work can benefit more people and a greater portion of our Northern Kentucky community.
Over the last two decades, we’ve built the Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office into the best felony prosecutor’s office in Kentucky. We take great pride in leading the way in the courtroom, the classroom, and with the legislature. Though I don’t know if my tenure in Campbell County will last a week, a month, or a year, it is my goal make use of my time and improve as much as possible while I am here. My most immediate goal is to increase accessibility to prosecutors for Campbell County’s law enforcement and improve communication. Campbell County’s felony prosecutors, like Kenton, will now attend monthly police chiefs’ meetings, weekly NKY Drug Strike Force briefings, and be available 24-7 by staffing an on-call “Felony Hotline.” A new employee manual has been issued to all staff and prosecutors now have a written list of prosecution policies. Campbell’s Commonwealth’s Attorney has never had an office website, but one is now in the works…
