Jim Carrey Lists Maui Beachfront Estate for $35 Million Amid Personal Milestones

Jim Carrey is putting his stunning Maui beachfront property on the market with an asking price of $35 million, nearly doubling what he originally paid for the estate nearly a decade ago. The 64-year-old actor and comedian purchased the nearly one-acre Keawakapu Beach property in November 2016 for $16.5 million.

The expansive estate boasts about 170 feet of private beach frontage and includes two homes-a main residence with three bedrooms and five bathrooms, plus a guest house featuring two additional bedrooms and bathrooms. The main house, built in 2002, spans over 4,000 square feet and showcases a tropical Hawaiian architectural style, designed by the firm Ike Kligerman Barkley. The property is being sold fully furnished, allowing the new owner to move in with much of the existing furniture and décor already in place.

This sale comes as Carrey has increasingly embraced a quieter, more private lifestyle away from the Hollywood spotlight. Over recent years, he has spoken openly about his preference for solitude and slowing down.

In 2018, he described his life in Maui as “isolated” and expressed enjoyment in spending time alone. While Carrey hinted at retiring from acting in 2022, he has continued to take on select roles, including reprising his role as Dr.

Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series.

Carrey rose to fame in the 1990s with iconic comedies such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber. He earned critical acclaim and Golden Globe Awards for his performances in The Truman Show and Man on the Moon, and was widely praised for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In recent years, Carrey has also focused on painting and writing, further reflecting his desire for a more introspective life.

This latest real estate move follows the sale of Carrey’s longtime Brentwood, Los Angeles home. Purchased originally in 1994 and expanded in 2000 to create a two-acre compound, that property featured over 10,000 square feet of living space, including amenities like a swimming pool, tennis court, movie theater, art gallery, and yoga pavilion. After several price reductions, the Brentwood estate sold for $17 million in 2023.

In addition to his real estate news, Carrey recently marked a significant personal milestone. In a private ceremony in Los Angeles, he married his longtime partner, Min Ah. The couple has kept their relationship largely private but was seen together publicly at the 51st César Film Awards in Paris earlier this year, where Carrey affectionately referred to Min Ah as his “sublime companion” during his honorary award speech.

While Carrey has not publicly explained his reasons for selling the Maui property, the listing highlights a substantial increase in value since his 2016 purchase. As he moves forward with these changes in both his personal life and real estate holdings, Carrey appears to be embracing a new chapter focused on privacy, creativity, and calm away from the Hollywood hustle.
