Savannah planning commission approves storage facility rezoning on Skidaway Road, 50th Street

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A four-story storage facility plan passed through the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) on Tuesday despite outcry from residents.

The MPC voted on a rezoning that changes conservation wetlands to commercial suburban on Skidaway Road and 50th Street.

Residents cite flooding, business impact

Residents said the change would disrupt flooding around the area and affect nearby businesses and housing.

MPC, city manager respond

MPC members said the laws have changed regarding how the area was zoned, and they believe changes can be made before going in front of city council.
