Syracuse to spend $25M on lead service line replacement work

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The city of Syracuse is moving forward with another round of service line replacements while also working on a longer-term plan to replace thousands of lines for other homes.

So far this year, the city has replaced more than 1,300 service lines, which is about 835 more than last year. The next phase is expected to cover up to 1,500 more homes within the city’s limits.

Department of Water commissioner Robert Brandt said the city does not plan to focus on just one neighborhood at a time…
