Greensboro offering fare free rides to celebrate 35 years for GTA

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – Gas and grocery prices may be sky-high these days, but the Greensboro Transit Agency is offering up a little relief to citizens with fare-free rides to celebrate the transit system’s 35th anniversary on Wednesday.

The Greensboro Transit Authority helped the city begin a new era of public transportation when it introduced 16 bus routes serving the greater Greensboro area on Oct. 7, 1991.

To celebrate the historic milestone, all paratransit rides are completely free from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. today across all regular GTA bus routes which access Greensboro.

To continue the celebration, a throwback rider appreciation event is scheduled for Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the J. Douglas Galyon Depot with music, food and giveaways. GTA will be giving away copies of the official 35th Anniversary Activity Book at the event on Thursday…
