Green Bay urges residents to clear drains, join Adopt-a-Pond after flooding

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Green Bay public works leaders say two unusually heavy rain events earlier this year overwhelmed parts of the city’s stormwater system and led to flooding on streets.

During a City Council presentation Tuesday night, the Department of Public Works pointed to storms in April and June. Utilities Division Director Erin Hansel said Green Bay received 5.25 inches of rain during one week in April, compared with a typical monthly April total of about three inches.

Hansel said the June 24 storm brought an estimated two to nearly four inches of rain in less than two hours, or roughly 85 billion gallons of water across the city.
