KAIMUKI, Hawaii (Island News) — After the roof partially collapsed at Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Kaimuki, the removal of spoiled food inside that caused a stench continues while another freezer with spoiled food was discovered in the restaurant.
The roof of Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant located at the Waialae Plaza partially collapsed on Aug. 18, 2026, which has led to the closure of a portion of 11th Avenue in Kaimuki. Over the past few weeks, there has been another concern impacting the community beyond the safety of the sidewalk and road in the area.
DOH and the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) said crews began to remove spoiled food from the kitchen area of the restaurant on Sept. 29. The spoiled food has contributed to odor and pest concerns in the surrounding area…
