WASKOM, Texas — Waskom Police Chief Larry Smith was injured Wednesday during a foot chase involving a juvenile suspect.
The incident happened just before 3 p.m. when Waskom police received a report of a theft at a local convenience store in the 800 block of Texas Spur 156. While responding, an officer spotted someone matching the suspect’s description in the 500 block of Magnolia Drive. When the officer attempted to make contact, the individual took off.
Harrison County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist Waskom officers with the pursuit. During the chase, Chief Smith suffered an injury and was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center Marshall for evaluation and treatment…
