HONOLULU (KHON2) — Diamond Bakery is marking 105 years in business.
They will be holding a free community celebration at their Kalihi factory on Oct. 12, featuring proclamations from state and city leaders, food giveaways, games and factory tours.
New Diamond Bakery boxes support Hawaiʻi nonprofit programs
The Hawaii snack company, founded in 1921 by Japanese immigrants Hidegoro Murai, Kikutaro Hiruya and Natsu Muramoto, will host the event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its factory outlet on Moʻowaʻa Street.
The festivities will begin with a proclamation from Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi declaring Oct. 12 as “Diamond Bakery Day,” followed by a traditional Japanese kagami biraki sake barrel ceremony…
