Alachua County law enforcement agencies host free self-defense classes for women

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Gainesville Police Department, Sante Fe College Police Department, and University of Florida Public Safety to offer free self-defense classes for women in October.

The agencies are offering free 12-hour R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) classes taught by certified R.A.D. that are meant to teach women awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and hands-on defense moves.

The classes run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. October 20, 22, 27, and 29. The classes are located at 1555 Museum Rd. in Gainesville. Attendees are required to attend all four sessions.…
