The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says Alexander B. Newman, 33, was arrested October 6, 2026, nearly six months after deputies received a report that a 1989 Bounder motorhome had been destroyed and its chassis was missing.
What happened to the RV in Vienna?
Sheriff Robert Maciol said deputies responded to a property on State Route 49 at about 12:42 p.m. on April 10. The owner reported the motorhome had been destroyed and its chassis was gone. The Criminal Investigations Unit later determined Newman allegedly damaged the RV and took its chassis to a local scrap yard, where it was sold for payment.
The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the amount of money paid, the vehicle’s value or the extent of the damage.
How did the arrest unfold?
Deputies and investigators made several unsuccessful attempts to locate Newman. The Town of Vienna Court issued an arrest warrant on August 31. On October 6, the Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit took Newman into custody at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building.
Newman was processed and transferred to the Oneida County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
What charges does Newman face?
