A Philadelphia police officer has died, and his partner remains in critical condition after being ambushed and shot multiple times while responding to a disturbance call in West Philadelphia early Saturday morning.
The shooting occurred just after midnight on the 100 block of North 52nd Street. Officers arrived in response to reports of a person armed with a gun. According to an on-scene officer, the arriving pair were immediately met with gunfire from an ambush on a porch.
Both wounded officers were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital. The fallen officer, identified by officials as 40-year-old Shane Seiser, was a 10-year veteran of the department and a father of two.
