Sour & Dough Bakery Opens Second SWFL Shop at The Pavilion in North Naples

Sour & Dough Artisan Bakery has opened a new location at 893 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Unit 58, inside The Pavilion shopping center in North Naples, bringing French-inspired breads, pastries and specialty coffee to a corner of the city that previously meant a drive south for fans of the bakery’s sourdough. The 1,190-square-foot shop offers both indoor seating and a covered outdoor patio, giving customers a spot to linger over a croissant rather than grab one to go.

According to Gulfshore Business, the bakery opened in September in a small unit next to Kava Culture at The Pavilion. The Naples shop shares ownership with the original Sour & Dough Artisan Bakery, which launched in May 2024 in University Village near Florida Gulf Coast University, the outlet reports. Co-owner Marcel Itzcovich described the operation in familiar terms, telling Gulfshore Business, “It’s a family business, and we try to keep it family-oriented.”

What’s On the Menu

The North Naples location serves French-inspired bread loaves alongside pastries, gourmet sandwiches and specialty coffee drinks, the same account notes. Sandwiches are built from the bakery’s own breads and filled with ingredients like turkey, prosciutto, brie, arugula and house-made pesto. On the sweeter side, the pastry case includes croissants, cinnamon rolls and cruffins filled with fruit cream.

That kind of baking doesn’t happen quickly. In an earlier interview with The News-Press, the bakery’s team explained the time investment behind its laminated dough: “It takes 24 hours, sometimes two days to make croissants. More than 24 hours to do good bread.” Everything is made fresh daily starting at 5 a.m. in an open kitchen area, according to the same report.

Soft-Opening Hours Still in Flux

For now, the North Naples shop’s hours are tentatively set at 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, per Gulfshore Business, though the outlet notes those hours are still being finalized as the location settles in. That mirrors the rhythm of Sour & Dough’s original outpost in Estero, which grew enough of a following that it pulled in customers driving over from Naples even before this second shop existed…
