No. 1 FSU soccer held to a draw against No. 24 Georgia, extend unbeaten run to 27 games

No. 1 Florida State soccer came from behind to tie No. 24 Georgia 1-1 Thursday at the Seminole Soccer Complex.

After an early Bulldogs goal, Taylor Huff’s equalizer in the second half extended the program’s unbeaten streak to 27 games before a crowd of 1,684.

However, the Seminoles saw an 18-game home winning streak and an 18-game winning streak overall ended with the tie. It was the first tie for FSU since a 3-3 draw against the University of North Carolina last September.

FSU went 13 straight games without falling behind. Tori Penn’s goal in the 15th minute broke that streak and was the first time the Seminoles have conceded this season.

“Proud of them. It was a bummer to go down 15 minutes in, didn’t have to happen but that’s the game,” FSU head coach Brian Pensky said. “I thought our response at halftime was great, we deserved at least a tie and we could have won the game.”

Huff scored the equalizer in the second half, her fourth goal of the season. The senior went on a mazy run in the penalty box before curling the ball into the far corner to level the score in the 63rd minute.
