MODESTO, Calif. – A 30-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car Thursday night in Stanislaus County, the California Highway Patrol said. Officers were dispatched around 11:40 p.m. to a crash on southbound Highway 99 at 9th Street in Modesto, CHP said. A woman in a dark area and wearing dark clothing walked on the roadway directly in the path of a white pickup traveling at 60 mph.
