Springfield labor organization hosting annual parade, picnic

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Central Labor Council is hosting its annual Labor Day parade, picnic and car show on Monday, Sept. 2.

According to a release from the United Way of the Ozarks, its president and CEO Brandi VanAntwerp will serve as this year’s parade Grand Marshal.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the corner of John Q. Hammons Parkway and Grand Street, near Missouri State University’s Plaster Stadium, then head toward Campbell Avenue before ending at Fassnight Park (1305 S. Campbell Ave.)

A free picnic will follow in the park at 11 a.m. and includes live music, along with a free car show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Awards for classic, modern and antique vehicles will be presented at 2 p.m.
