Missouri legislature’s veto session passes quietly after governor removes $1 billion from state budget

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3)-Missouri lawmakers allowed $1 billion to be cut from the budget without a fight this veto session. The Missouri Capitol has been largely empty and quiet since the Missouri General Assembly adjourned for the year in May, but lawmakers and their staff returned to the building Wednesday for the annual veto session. The veto session is a time for lawmakers to challenge the budget items and bills the governor denied.
