Eaton, Urbana receives funding for 2028 projects

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Two local county seats are receiving funding for future construction projects.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced the cities of Eaton in Preble County and Urbana in Champaign County are being allotted $2,000 each for future road work.

According to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, safety on the roadways is an important initiative.

“Whether it’s upgrading a major thoroughfare or installing better signage along a small township road, the projects we’re supporting will help local governments maintain and improve the streets their citizens drive on each day,” said DeWine.

In Eaton, funding will be used for phase three of reconstruction on N. Maple Street, between Main and just south of High streets. Local residents will notice work to on-street parking improvements, as well as sidewalk and sewer upgrades.

Funding for Urbana will be utilized for the US 36/Scioto Street/Miami Street Corridor
Project. The Governor’s office says pushbuttons, signal heads, cabinets and controllers will be installed for pedestrian crossing improvements. To help assist in pedestrian safety, Urbana will also establish a radar detection.
