Davis Fire Friday live updates: On seventh day, rest for some of the crew battling blaze

Emergency responders are starting Friday in a much better position as favorable weather conditions the previous day allowed firefighters to gain traction against the Davis Fire.

The fire response saw progress across the board as firefighters kept the fire in check.

More people were allowed to go home on Thursday while NV Energy also reported more residences regaining power.

At the same time, officials expressed cautious optimism moving forward, adding that the wildfire has yet to be fully contained. The Davis Fire has burned 5,800 acres as of Thursday, and was at 56% containment.

The Nevada Division of Forestry is also starting to look into demobilizations for firefighters and other crews who have been battling the fire.

“They’re tired, they’re beat up and we really want to focus on their mental health as they come off this fire,” said State Forester and Firewarden Kacey KC of the Nevada Division of Forestry. “They’re going to be feeling things.”
