Barricaded subject in custody; 2 hurt in shooting outside Surfside Beach, official says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C.(WBTW) — A Thursday night police standoff outside of Surfside Beach ended just around 11 p.m. when a person was taken into custody, authorities said.

Two people sustained unknown injuries after being shot in connection with the incident, which began around 9 p.m. near South Reindeer Road.

Horry County spokeswoman Mikayla Moscov said a person was taken into custody shortly after 11 p.m.

The Horry County Police Department’s special operations unit, a SWAT team, negotiators and a drone operator were all on scene.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
