Man involved in Horry County officer-involved shooting hit with more than a dozen charges

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Surfside beach man at the center of a Friday night officer-involved shooting and brief standoff is facing more than a dozen charges, court records show.

Neil Wade Brown, 60, was arrested shortly after 11 p.m. following an incident near South Reindeer Road that drew a heavy law enforcement response.

He’s charged with two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime; aggravated breach of peace; four counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person; two counts of discharging a firearm into a dwelling; four counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature; one count of first-degree burglary and domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Brown remains behind bars at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, intake records show.

An Horry County police report obtained by News13 shows one of the victims was shot in the thigh, while the other was shot in the hip. They were both taken to a hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.
