Early education center announced as Downtown Boise Y continues relocation efforts

Downtown Boise’s new CapED YMCA recently received a $2 million donation from the Kissler Family as a larger redevelopment project for that sector of downtown Boise continues.

The donation will be dedicated to the construction of the Kissler Family Early Education Center, to be located next to the new downtown Y location. The new center will double the downtown YMCA’s current child care capacity to 123 seats for children aged six weeks to 5 years old, a YMCA news release said.

In March, the YMCA announced that it’s new, 109,000-square-foot facility would come with a new name: the CapEd Credit Union Y, following a $5 million donation from the credit union toward the $80 million facility, as previously reported by the Idaho Press . It will be built directly across the street from the current YMCA building that sits on the northern edge of downtown, on the corner of 10th and State streets.

The education center will be a separate, 10,000-square-foot center adjacent to the new Y facility, David Duro, Treasure Valley Family YMCA President and CEO, said.
