Appeals court upholds Mobile man’s life-without-parole sentence in 1980 murder

An appeals court has upheld the life-without-parole sentence handed down to a Mobile man who killed a woman in 1980 when he was 17 years old. A jury found Labarron Sim Miller guilty of capital murder after determining that he broke into the home of Geraldine Hayles and strangled her to death in front of her 8-year-old granddaughter.
