Expect more rain, wind across the Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — A low-pressure system is bringing moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds across the Carolinas. In the Triad, widespread rain is expected to remain for the majority of the evening into the overnight hours. During the same time frame, northeast winds will be breezy at 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph.

The strongest winds look to arrive late Monday into early Tuesday. Wind advisories are in place for the southern Piedmont Triad until 2 a.m. Tuesday for wind gusts up to 45 mph. It’s recommended that any loose items in your yard be secured or brought inside as soon as possible.

Rainfall totals look to be between one to three inches with locally higher amounts possible. With a lot of rain in the forecast tonight, there’s a scattered threat of flash flooding. Flood watches are in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Use caution on the roads, and do not drive through flooded roads.

The rain and wind will keep temperatures in the low to mid-60s into Tuesday morning. Showers remain possible throughout the day Tuesday as the low-pressure system lingers over the southeastern United States. The chance for rain is 50%. Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to reach the low 70s.
