Man who helped write some of 1970s biggest hits dies at age 78

JD Souther, who had a hand in writing hits for popular artists such as the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt, has died at the age of 78, reports say. According to a statement on his website, Souther died “peacefully” at his home in New Mexico, but no cause of death has been reported. Souther was scheduled to play some shows with Karla Bonoff this fall.
