CEO of Olmsted Parks Conservancy to step down in coming months

Layla George, CEO of Olmsted Parks Conservancy , announced plans to step down from her position in the coming months on Wednesday.

George has led the system of historical parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted for the last six years. In a letter announcing her decision, she cited her desire for a new challenge and her confidence in a healthy future for the organization as reasons for her looming departure.

The CEO plans to continue her work with the organization over the coming months to give the Board time to thoroughly search for an ideal successor and to facilitate the leadership transition, she said.

“Personally, the time feels right for me to take on a new challenge and professionally, I could not be more confident in the team’s ability to carry on our mission,” George wrote.

Her letter touted several advancements Olmsted Parks Conservancy has ushered in during her period of leadership, including expanding its Team for Healthy Parks, which performs park maintenance like clearing invasive species, landscaping and planting trees.
